Equinix, a global interconnection and data centre company, has announced its participation at this year’s GITEX Technology Week.
At the event, Equinix will demonstrate how it can empower businesses in the Middle East in their Digital Transformation journeys, enabling interconnection of these businesses to networks, cloud service providers and digital supply chains.
During the week, Equinix will also share how these organisations can use colocation centres to leverage the benefits of Edge Computing and networking both in the region and globally.
“For Middle East organisations to unlock the full potential of applications such as cloud, Blockchain, AI and robotics, businesses will need a highly advanced IT infrastructure and mature digital readiness that enable seamless and secure interaction among all nodes,” said Jeroen Schlosser, Managing Director, Equinix MENA.
He added: “For a successful transformation, companies will need to adopt an interconnection-first architecture that will enable them to de-centralise IT and networking and extend their IT operations through the interconnection of people, things, locations, clouds and data.”
As the technology industry continues to expand at a rapid pace, modern businesses see digital technologies that need to be seamlessly integrated with legacy IT infrastructures to optimise business processes, agility and scale.
According to the 2018 Global Interconnection Index (the ‘GXI’), a market study published by Equinix that analyses traffic exchange globally; digital business drives real-time interactions to capture greater value. By 2021, at least 50% of global GDP will be digitalised, with growth in every industry driven by digitally enhanced offerings, operations and relationships.
“Having private connections can help businesses eliminate throughput delays and security risks inherent in Internet connections, perfectly complementing the key attributes of these applications,” said Schlosser.

Equinix experts will be available in Hall 6, Stand H6-3 to discuss the need for interconnection in the region at GITEX Technology Week at Dubai World Trade Center.
